Tennis Probes down under: Man charged over tennis match-fixing
JUL 18, 2014 LISTEN

Victoria police released a statement confirming details of the arrests and the charges levelled against one of the six men.

It said that an investigation had discovered a possible betting syndicate with "alleged links to state, national and international tennis matches", though no specific competitions or matches were named.

Detectives from the Purana Task Force, which deals with organised crime, led the investigation.

The statement read: "The 27-year-old has been charged with two counts of using corrupt conduct information for betting purposes and two counts each of trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence.

"He has been bailed by police to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on September 25, 2014."

The other men, aged between 26 and 40, were all based in Victoria and have been released pending further enquiries.
