The seven-time champion was at his supreme best under the roof on Centre Court as he recorded a seventh consecutive win on grass with a 6-3 6-1 6-3 victory on Saturday.

Federer only needed 82 minutes to complete his victory and continue his record of not dropping a set in this year's tournament, while Giraldo's search for a second win over a top-10 player continues.

Although the opening set saw few break point chances, it was the fourth seed who dominated, hitting 10 winners and winning 74 per cent of points on his first serve as Giraldo struggled to respond.

The Colombian was unable to stop Federer's march towards the next round as he only managed to win 14 points in the second set, while the Swiss' elegant backhand continued to work like clockwork.

After converting his third set point to go 2-0 ahead, the 32-year-old was never going to be beaten as he served brilliantly and continued to take advantage of Giraldo's errors.

Another seven unforced errors came in the final set as Federer bided his time before completing the break he needed in the eighth game.

Victory was assured after another dominant service game from the world number four, serving out to love having only conceded 19 points on his serve in the whole match.

Federer will now wait to find out his next opponent as Jerzy Janowicz and Tommy Robredo do battle in their third-round match.
