Ghana midfielder Bernard Kumordzi has lashed out at his 'absurd' sending off in Club Brugge's 2-0 win over Genk in the Belgian top flight match played on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old was handed his marching orders after receiving a second booking in the 65 th minute in the heated game played at the Jan Breydelstadion.

Kumordzi's exit swung the momentum of the game in the favour of their hosts as Brugge were only a goal up at that time.

Michel Preud'homme's side had to hold on until an 88 th minute strike from De Sutter made the points safe for the Blue-Black.

Kumordzi has however called for a review and punishment on referee Efong Nzolo for his 'absurd' decision to send him off in Wednesday's clash.

“This was definitely a turning point,” a fuming Kumordzi said after the game.

“You cannot with common sense understand why the ref booked me in that first offense.

“They [authorities] would have to punish Nzolo [referee].

“Football is a contact sport and that second yellow card (the second), okay, but that first one was really absurd.”

Kumordzi will now faces an automatic one-match ban for his sending off until the decision is reversed through a yet to be lodged appeal by his club.
