The Ghana women's hockey team made history by holding Investec South Africa women's hockey team to a pulsating 1-1 score line.
The South African side earned 16 penalty corners and also created numerous chances in field play but Ghana battled tenaciously throughout, relying on breakaways to set up their limited goalscoring opportunities.
South Africa took the lead through Celia Evans after she reacted quickly at another untidy set-piece play in the 26th minute to slot the ball home.
Ghana striker Elizabeth Opoku epitomised the determination of Ghana when she held on to score a fine opportunist goal in the 52nd minute.
In the Men's encounter, Ghana could not bounce back after their defeat to South Africa, as they lost to hosts Kenya 2-0.
The Kenyans had no option but to go for the win and they started brightly, pushing the Ghanaians in their own half. They however only managed to get on the score-sheet in the second half.
Ghana men's hockey team were defeated 6-2 by South Africa on Monday.
