Are Togo, Ethiopia and Equatorial Guinea to be worried? According to our colleagues from RFI (France Radio International), FIFA has decided to open disciplinary proceedings against these three countries. The world body reproaches them to have used ineligible players in the meetings of the World Cup qualifying in 2014.
The games involved are Botswana, Ethiopia (1-2), Togo-Cameroon (2-0), played in June, and the 4-3 victory of Equatorial Guinea against Cape Verde in March.
That could upset some rankings if the facts are proven and open the way to penalties. Ethiopia, qualified on Sunday for the final round of the competition may be withdrawn points. Togo and Equatorial Guinea, out of the race to the World Cup in Brazil can expect sporting and financial sanctions.
