Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, 26, will not compete again this year as he awaits trial for murder, despite receiving a number of meeting invitations.
Pistorius stands accused of premeditated murder after the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his Pretoria home.
He was released on bail http://www.sport24.co.za/OtherSport/Athletics/Oscar-cleared-to-travel-20130328 of R1m. He will be back in the North Gauteng High Court on 4 June.
http://ewn.co.za/2013/05/20/No-running-for-Pistorius-this-year South African medias reports that the Paralympian star's coach Ampie Louw confirmed that they have turned down invitations to take part in major international athletic events.
'We have decided as a team we are not talking [about] any training or athletics. We have postponed [races] for the whole year,' Louw said.
He went onto say that Pistorius was not in the correct frame of mind to return to competitive action.
'He is nowhere close to being in a position to train. He just does fitness exercises in the morning with his family.'
It means the South African will not compete in the IPC World Championships in Lyon in July.
He had not been invited to compete in the London Anniversary Games that same month.
Pistorius is next due in court on June 4 and a trial is expected to take place before the end of this year.
At London 2012, Pistorius became the first double amputee to run at an Olympics, taking part in both the 400m and 4x400m relay.
