Anthony Annan Port Elizabeth, Feb. 7, GNA - Richmond Boakye-Yiadom and Anthony Annan's participation at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations is over at the competition Ghana exits as semi-finalists.

The injured duo have been unable to win their race against time after picking respective injuries during the build-up to the competition that concludes in South Africa on Sunday, February 10.

While Annan has played only 17 minutes at the tournament after coming on as second half substitute in the Group B opener with Democratic Republic of Congo, Boakye-Yiadom did not kick a single ball in all five games played so far.

Annan, making his fourth Nations Cup appearance walked off in the Black Stars friendly game with Egypt in Abu Dhabi in what was assumed to be based on a precautionary measure but has yet to shake off the injury.

Boakye-Yiadom, also picked up his injury at the Black Stars last training in Abu Dhabi in an injury later discovered to be a nagging ankle one.

Annan travelled to the event as one of the most experience players in the Ghana team. Boakye-Yiadom, however, scored once in the Stars' build up against Tunisia and was counted among the strikers to lead Ghana's quest.

Ghana will be chasing bronze at the competition they hoped to win to end the Nations search for a fifth Nations Cup glory.

The Stars' dream was curtailed by the Stallions of Burkina Faso in Nelspruit on Wednesday with a 3-2 defeat on penalties after the game ended 1-1 after 120 minutes.
