The 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup continues Monday in the Japanese city of Hiroshima with matches in Group C and D.
Ghana's Black Princesses are in action against Chile 2008 champions the USA. The Americans have finished among the top four at all but one of the previous editions.
The Black Princesses held the USA to a 1-1 draw in their first group game in the Germany 2010 edition and will count on last two year's experience to get a favorable result.
Ghana is yet to progress beyond the group stage of any World Cup at any level. The other Group D game will see defending champions Germany take on Thailand 2004 and Russia 2006 runners-up China.
Germany have not lost in any game at the U-20 Women's World Cup since losing out in the 2008 semi-final, while China have become a powerhouse in recent years. In Group C, Korea DPR take on Norway while Argentina come up against Canada.
Meanwhile opening day matches on Sunday August 19 saw hosts Japan starting on the high, beating Mexico by 4-1. New Zealand won by 2-1 against Switzerland in the other Group A game. Both games were played in the city of Miyagi.
In the Group B games at Saitama, Nigeria reaffirmed their resolve to go for gold by beating Korea Republic 2-0 while Brazil settled for a 1-1 draw with Italy.
