Accra, Aug. 3, GNA – The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) on Friday signed the Book of Condolence in memory of late President John Evans Atta Mills at the State House, Accra.
The delegation was led by its President, Ackah Anthony who signed the Book on behalf of the body.
The SWAG President eulogized the late President for his un-rivalled credentials in politics and also described him as a pillar in sports development in the country.
“He belonged to a rare breed of leadership that could have changed the face of African politics through unusual modesty, humility and sincerity.
“He was a sports personality par excellence. We will always miss you,” the SWAG President wrote.
The SWAG delegation also included Ben Ohene Aryeh (Vice President), William Ezah (General Secretary), Sammy Heywood-Okine (Deputy General Secretary) and Veronica Commey (Treasurer). The rest are Nii Maale Adsei, Kofi Addae and William Fiifi Sey, all members.
The late President Mills passed away on Tuesday, July 24 at the 37 Military Hospital after taken ill.
He served in various sporting capacities including lead positions at the National Sports Council (now National Sports Authority) and the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).
