
The Ghana Swimming Association has expressed its shock at the sudden death of President Atta Mills, which event occurred last Tuesday July 24, calling on all Ghanaians to remain united in the face of the challenge.
A statement signed by president of the association, Theophilus Wilson-Edzi said, 'The Ghana Swimming Association is deeply saddened by the sudden death of our beloved head of state Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills.
'For and on behalf of the entire swimming community in Ghana, we wish to express our deepest condolence to his wife Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills, the family, Government, sports fraternity and the good people of Ghana.
'President Mills was an ardent sportsman. Among the various sporting activities he was engaged in was swimming. Indeed the Association had a lot of co-operation from the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Youth & Sports during his time.
'May his soul find peace and comfort in the heavens above.
'We also take this opportunity to welcome the new President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and pledge our utmost support for his Government,' the statement concluded.
