Accra, July 4, GNA – Ghana's Black Stars dropped eight places to the 33rd position, according to the latest rankings released by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).
The Stars slip, largely attributed to their lone goal loss to Zambia in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers did not however affect their placing on the continental ranking as they maintained their second position behind Cote d'Ivoire.
Ghana now has a point haul of 737 against 909 by the Ivorians, incidentally the only African team in the top 20 in the world.
According to the rankings, Algeria (693 points), Libya (655 points), Mali (650 points), Zambia (648 points), Egypt (631 points), Tunisia (627 points), Gabon (624 points) and Nigeria (525 points) completes the top 10 ranked teams in Africa.
World and European champions, Spain maintain the first place on the rankings and are followed by Germany, Uruguay, England, Portugal, Italy, Argentina, Netherlands, Croatia and Denmark in the top 10.
