
Sidalco Ghana Limited has joined the list of sponsors for the 37 th edition of the MTN-SWAG Awards, scheduled for the Banquet Hall, State House, on Saturday, June 9.
The company is giving out GH¢5,000 towards the organization of the prestigious event, aimed at recognizing the distinguished efforts of sports men and women in the year 2011.
David Lamptey, Chief Executive of the company, made the presentation to the association on Wednesday, May 16.
Oheneba Charles, a patron of SWAG, expressed appreciation to the company for assisting in the organization of the event.
The SWAG patron noted that Lamptey had been a long time admirer of the association and passionate supporter of Ghana sports; hence the decision to be part of the event.
Oheneba Charles extended a formal invitation to Lamptey to attend the prestigious event, adding that it would be a night to remember.
Over 25 sports men and women drawn from various sporting disciplines will be honoured for their distinguished performance in the year 2011.
Key among the lists of award categories is the Sports Personality of the Year which has Andre Dede Ayew, Ajara Mohammed and Harrison Afful competing. Andre Ayew, Emmanuel Agyeman Badu and Harrison Afful are also vying for the Footballer of the Year award.
The awards night will be graced by Gianni Merlo, President of the Association of International Press for Sports (AIPS), Minister of Youth and Sports, Clement Kofi Humado and other high-profile sports personalities and dignitaries.
