With barely a month to the testimonial match of ex-Black Stars defender, Samuel Osei Kuffour, organisers of the game have set November 23 as official launch of the big match in Kumasi.
The launch at the birthplace of the player is to sell the game to his kinsmen and to whip up public interest towards the December 23 match scheduled for the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi
The player announced the date at a press soiree and an engagement with over a dozen sponsors at his plush East Legon house last Tuesday where he took time to explain a wide range of football issues and his life off the pitch.
Over fifteen international stars including former teammates of Kuffour, mostly those from Bayern Munich, have confirmed their participation in the match which will be the first by a Ghanaian player. From Oliver Khan to Lothar Matheus through to his ex-national team colleagues, Kumasi is expected to bubble with excitement.
Osei Kuffour traced his humble beginning from his days at Fantomas and King Faisal Babies, all in Kumasi, to his rise to Torino in Italy in 1991 and later to Bayern Munich in 1993 where he played for over a decade with whom he won the UEFA Champions League in 2001.
