A Director of Liberty Professionals, George Afriyie, has presented a bonus package of GH¢3,000 to the players and their technical handlers following their win over Ashantigold in the Glo Premier League last Sunday.
Liberty’s 3-1 victory over Ashantigold was perfect response to Mr Afriyie’s promise to pay the amount if they halted Ashantigold’s unbeaten run in the second round of the league, and at a ceremony at their club house at Dansoman in Accra yesterday, he further pledged a GH¢5,000 reward if they finish in the Top 4.
“This is a promise I made to you and a fulfillment of my side of the bargain,” Mr Afriyie told the players and their handlers at the ceremony. “But my joy is that you won the match to improve your standing on the table.
“It will be even sweeter if you finish the league among the Top 4, and I will reward you with GH¢5,000 if you achieve it,” added Mr Afriyie who is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association,.
Until last Sunday, Ashantigold had been unbeaten in the second round of the ongoing league, having gone on a seven-match winning streak as they suddenly joined the title hunters from their first round mid-table status.
But goals from Francis Morton, goalkeeper Daniel Agyei and Latif Salifu put Ashantigold to sleep, with Didier Kora giving Ashgold a consolation.
