Word Miracle Church International (WMCI) one of the fastest growing charismatic churches in the country last Saturday marked its 25th milestone with a peace walk.

Hundreds of the church members predominantly from the metropolis poured onto the streets in a health walk which started from the church’s headquarters, Perez Dome, Dzorwulu through Pig Farm, New Town, Nima, Maamobi, Accra Girls Senior Schools to the starting point.

The 10-km walk was led by the presiding bishop of the church, Dr Charles Agyin Asare, amidst brass band music, as the participants covered the distance in less than two hours.

Bishop Agyin Asare in his address pointed out that the Lord has been good to the church as he outlined the landmark achievements of the church which included projects like schools, scholarship programs for the needy but intelligent second cycle students, among others.

He said currently, the church was building a clinic for the Dzorwulu Special School, and plans were also in place to make donations to needy organizations as part of the church’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Bishop Agyin Asare said the anniversary would be officially launched in October this year with a joint service.

He petitioned political leaders to be decorous in their speeches in order not to incite the populace to engage in acts that would lead to conflict.

“The fact that we belong to different political parties with divergent opinions shouldn’t make us enemies, the difference between us and the western world is that they don’t destroy properties when elections are lost,” Bishop said.

According to him, the church has concluded plans to build schools in every region in the next five years.
