Kumasi, April 16, GNA – The Management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has expressed its gratefulness to its large army of supporters and fans for the massive support which enabled the Club to beat their arch-rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak in their Glo Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday.
Kotoko won the match 2-1 in a dramatic fashion to throw their loyal supporters into wild celebration to climax their grab of the 2011/2012 Premier League title.
Godwin Ablorddey, Team Manager of Kotoko told GNA Sports in Kumasi that the sheer numbers of fans who trooped to the stadium provided a psychological boost for the Porcupine Warriors.
“When even everything pointed to a drawn game, the supporters kept cheering the boys on and this motivated them to snatch the match winner on the stroke of time.”
Ablorddey said the battle was not yet over as there were a couple of matches left to be played to end the League and crown them the worthy champions.
"The supporters should therefore continue to rally solidly behind the team to enable them to win the Premier League title".
Kotoko currently are comfortably occupying the summit of the League table with 52 points, with AshGold, Chelsea and Hearts in the second and third and fourth positions with 40 and 39 points, respectively.
