Ghana's sole continental representatives Berekum Chelsea recorded an emphatic 5-0 win over Raja Casablanca in their Champions League tie   in Berekum yesterday.

Striker Emmanuel Clottey's hat-trick and spectacular goals from Solomon Asante and brilliant skipper Abdul Basit was enough to give the Ghana champions hope of making it to the next stage of the competition.

Smallish Asante struck home with a volley to open scoring 19 minutes before the break.

A goal scoring opportunity came the way of the architect of the first goal Richard Kissi two minutes after the lead, but the visitor's goalkeeper parried the ball to safety.

Clottey increased the tally in the 53 rd minute and went on to convert from the spot after skipper Basit was fouled in the box.

Basit crowned his effort with a spectacular goal in the 79 th minute, while Clottey hit the final nail in the coffin in the dying minutes.

The big win makes the reverse encounter a mere formality for the Hans Vander Plum boys, uncertainties in the game notwithstanding.

Club bankroller Emmanuel Kofi Kyeremeh, in a post match interview, attributed the victory to the collective efforts of management and the playing body.

The win has soared his confidence and he believes the team will return from Morocco barely two weeks from now with a good scoreline.
