RUNAWAY LEAGUE leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko insist third place team Ashantigold remain a major threat to their title ambitions and not second-placed Hearts of Oak.

Kotoko Coach Maxwell Konadu said Ashantigold, who are now in top form, posed more threat to their title ambition than Hearts, whose season had been characterized by inconsistencies.

He said Kotoko, with a nine-point lead, still remained the huge favourites to lift aloft the league diadem this season but he was quick to warn that Ashantigold could pull a surprise if Kotoko lost focus.

Coach Konadu stated that Hearts of Oak, with their current unimpressive form, stood no chance of wresting the league title from Kotoko's grips, noting that as far as he was concerned, the title aspirations of the Phobians was over.

Without mincing words, he disclosed that the league chase was now a two horse race between leaders Kumasi Asante Kotoko and third-placed Ashantigold FC who have hit form in the second round.

The Kotoko coach observed that Ashantigold FC remained the only team in the league that had accumulated more points than Kotoko after five games in the second round.

Though Kotoko were yet to pick a ball from their net in the second round, Coach Konadu said Ashantigold with five wins in five games, should be a concern to any team that had aspirations of winning the title.
