A 10-man Tema Youth side Sunday relied on team work and tactical discipline to hold Accra Hearts of Oak to a goaless drawn game at the Accra Sport stadium.

It was Hearts’ second consecutive home draw and which has allowed Kotoko to open a nine- point gap on top of the league table after another difficult game against a lowly-placed side at home.

Hearts needed the magic of veteran Laryea Kingston to be able to stablised the midfield after the combination of Douglas Nkrumah, Karim Sadat and Mahatma Otoo could not jell and allowed the visitors to dictate the pace in the early part of the first half.

That together with hard luck denied Hearts victory when Otoo missed from a spot kick on the 61st minute as he saw two of his shots grazed the cross bar in the first half after the team had displayed very little sense of purpose.

Tema Youth quickly responded to Laryea’s earlier attempts when Philemon McCarthy was forced to make an acrobatic save after Abel Hammond chipped the ball beyond him.

Hearts introduced Uriah Asante and James Aban in the second half which lifted the tempo of the game with Hearts probing for the breakthrough until the 61st minute when Uriah was brought down in the penalty box for which Mahatma shot wide.

Hearts became desperate and pressed the visitors to their own half for most part of the half but the resolute defence of Tema Youth were on hand to thwart their attempt while agile goalkeeper, Kofi Mensah, dealt with the few shots on target.

The fans support for the team turned to anger and hooting when they realised the game was heading for another disappointing draw.
