Visiting Berekum Berlin Football Club on Sunday

By GNA

Sunyani (B/A) Feb. 07, GNA – Visiting Berekum Berlin Football Club put up a splendid performance to hold B.A United to a goalless draw game in their encounter of the “Zone 1B” Division One League at the Coronation Park in Sunyani.

The match formed part of the second-week pairings of the League and the former Premier league side, B.A United, who lost 0-1 to arch rivals B.A. Stars at Nsoatre last week in the maiden competition, were with high hope that this time round they would overrun the visitors but eventually realized it was a wishful thinking.

Berlin F/C who smashed Yagbon Stars 2-0 at Berekum last weeek, started the game in bursts and within the first 10 minutes sent a clear message to the homesters that the match would not be an easy affair, in spite of playing away from their base.

The attacking machinery of Berlin F/C, master-minded by Sammy Tugah, Awuah and Tawiah continued to be a thorn in the flesh of the defence of United, who were only saved by the agility of goalkeeper Amos Adu, a one-time national Under-17 keeper.

The United side, which excluded most of the players who featured in their match with B.A. Stars, was a pale shadow of themselves, and could not match the more experienced Berlin boys, however, they could not utilize the several chances they created with goalkeeper Adu putting up astounding performance throughout the duration of the match.

Speaking to the GNA Sports in Sunyani on Monday the supporters of B.A. United did not understand why the coach decided to field a mediocre crop of players for the match, which they thought they could easily won if the right players were fielded.

“Does the coach mean playing at home is an automatic chance for any team to win a match”? one of them queried.

The supporters cautioned coach Opuni to learn a lesson out of his miscalculation to avoid disgrace in subsequent matches.
