After a successful organization of the 4th UCI Africa Para-Cycling Championship 2011, the gear has shifted to yet another blast display of pure cycling skills in next year's ECOWAS Tour which will be rolling from the Nigerian City of Lagos, through Benin, Togo, Ghana and finally into La Cote D'Ivoire from the 13th to 20th February 2012.
Ghana made a quality mark in the first edition held 2 years ago, with a narrow loss on the prestigious Yellow Jersey won by Team Burkina Faso.
ECOWAS' endorsement of this Tour is necessitated by the sub-region's guest to ensure border flexibility among member states.
In furtherance of this tour, a three member delegation headed by the Vice-President of the Cycling Federation Mr. Teye Doku, Shaaban Mohammed – Technical Director, DSP. Antwi- Ababio of Police MTTU and Sam Ayer of Ghana Immigration were in Burkina Faso for the Technical briefing ahead of the event next year.
Meanwhile, Ghana will be hosting the first ever Africa Commissaires Course which will precede the ECOWAS Tour. The course is expected to feature over 30 participants in Africa.
