Kotoko beat Lions to stay top; Chelsea lose to Medeama

For the second week running, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has once again given a strong indication of the team's quest to clinch this season's Glo premier league title by beating bogy side, Hearts of Lions by two goals to nothing.

The win moves the Pocupine Warriors to ten points on top of the table.

Kotoko's attack looked sharp throughout the first half as Ahmed Toure and Nathaniel Asamoah gave the Lions defense a torrid time.

Ahmed Toure nodded home the first goal from a cross in the 9th minute of the game and his partner in crime, Nathanial Asamoah, made it two before the end of the first half.

The second half was virtually uneventful apart from a severe neck injury Nathaniel Asamoah suffered and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. At the time of filing this report, no official message had been received from the Kotoko officials on the state of his health.

Defending league champions, Berekum Chelsea, were also handed a shocking defeat by Medeama FC after former Hearts of Oak marksman, Louis Agyeman, scored the only goal of the game.

Unconfirmed reports after the Berekum Chelsea-Medeama game reveal that Chelsea's coach, Steve Polac, has been sacked after the loss.

In other games Aduana Stars were held by Ashanti Gold to a one all duel. Aduana Stars' Saka Godfred opened the scores in the 34th minute before a ten man Ashgold took the game to Aduana and equalized through Yakubu Mohammed.

Earlier, Ahgold's Aaron Amoah was shown a red card in the 44th minute for what reports say was a verbal attack on Referee Cecil Fletcher.

Liberty Professionals beat Tema Youth 1-0 at the Sly Tetteh Park in Dansoman. Liberty goalkeeper, Daniel Adjei elected himself to convert a spot kick after a Liberty lad was brought down in the box.

Meanwhile, Wa All Stars beat Bechem United by a lone goal courtesy Eric Mensah, whiles New Edubiase FC downed Mighty Jets 1-0 from the boots of Emmanuel Baffour in injury time of the first half. Baffour is currently the highest goal scorer with six goals in four games.

On Saturday, Cape Coast Abusua Dwarfs beat Berekum Arsenal at the Cape Coast Park by a goal to nil.

Accra Hearts of Oak is on the road to meet new entrants Wassaman FC, which will be played later on Sunday.
