Evans Kpobi of Somanya clocked 25 minutes 12 seconds to win the Second annual Francophonie Fortnight Marathon held in Accra on Saturday.
The eight-kilometre race, which was started from the Alliance Francaise through some principal streets in Accra, saw Kpobi taking the lead from the blast of the starter's gun to the end at Alliance Francaise.
Kwame Asante took the second position with a time of 27 minutes, while Latif Abubakar was third with a time of 24.01 minutes.
About 200 runners took part in the competition, which was jointly organised by the Alliance Francaise, the National Commission on Culture and sponsored by Wonder Foods Limited in partnership with the Embassies of French-Speaking countries.
Mr Festus Tettey Communications Director of Wonder Foods Limited expressed his appreciation of the massive turnout of participants.
He urged Ghanaians, especially the youth to take active interest in sports since it keeps the body fit at all times.
Mr Tettey said his company would continue to play its part in the sponsorship of the event in the ensuing years
