A frenetic second half display by Tudu Mighty Jets earned them a second giant-killing feat yesterday as they put the brakes on high-flying New Edubiase with a 2-1 victory at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.
Only two weeks ago the premiership new entrants stunned Accra Hearts of Oak with a 1-0 win, and yesterday they fought from a goal behind to clinch the deal.
In a dramatic display that saw the homesters in a frenzied assault, Jets could have recorded a great haul but they proved erratic and wasteful in front of goal in a spell when the Edubiase midfield easily caved in and their defence surprisingly became edgy.
New Edubiase, who incidentally beat Hearts of Oak at the same venue, appeared the most combative side from kick-off and with cheeky ease unsettled the homesters with sheer display of power, and by the 11th minute they had pounded the Jets area with several goal-bound shots and Jets were lucky to escape unscathed.
But Jets’ deadly weapon, Aaron Amoah, was always a threat lurking to unleash a deadly blow to Edubiase and on the 12th minute after a brilliant solo effort, he unleashed a volley which shaved off the post.
A minute later, he pulled out the best from goalkeeper Collins Addo, who punched yet another thunderbolt from the youngster to corner.
Three minutes later, Emmanuel Baffour opened the scores for the visitors when he shot through a forest of legs to put them in front.
Edubiase sustained the heat, but Stephen Manu, John Arthur and Baffour failed to strike a meaningful chord in their numerous attempts at goal.
Murkson Mohammed pulled even a minute in the second half, and from that moment, Jets launched a spirited onslaught and were rewarded three minutes from full time when substitute Kofi Owusu reacted to a defence-splitting volley to blast past substitute goalkeeper, Salia Iddrissu.
