Chad Beat Cameroon In TLC Tourney

ophone soccer tournament tagged, 'The Language Clinique' (TLC) 2010 Cup, took a dramatic turn in the second week as Chad defeated Cameroon and Central African Republic (CAR) to qualify for the next round of the competition, which has at stake a GH¢50,000 prize money.

The soccer tournament involving some nationals of Francophone countries based in Accra, was started on October 23, 2010 at the Ohene Djan Stadium and is expected to end on December 11, 2010 at the same venue.

The countries taking part in the competition are Congo Brazzaville, Mali, Cameroon, Gabon, Benin and Equatorial Guinea.

Others are Cote D'Ivoire, Togo, Burkina Faso, Guinea and Central African Republic, while Senegal and DR Congo failed to participate.

Speaking to the media at the Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC), Mr. Bonaventure Aguissi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the TLC Institute said the tournament will be an annual event starting from next year and will involve all the teams in Africa.

He explained that the on-going competition is also to create awareness for students, workers and some businessmen who would like to learn different languages whilst pursuing their normal duties.

According to him, TLC has competent lecturers, well equipped modern laboratory and spacious air-conditioned classrooms with projectors.

He said after the tournament, organizers will award the best player for both male and female respectively and fair play team. The winner and first runner-up will also be awarded with attractive packages.

He added that the competition will be under the directives of retired FIFA referee, Joseph Wellington, now FIFA Instructor.
