3rd Accra Biennial Football Expo underway

The third Accra Biennial Football Expo 2010 workshop and the first Ghana Expo 2010 formally got underway yesterday amid motivational and inspirational speeches at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The three-day program, which seeks among other things the benefits that the country and Africa in general stands to gain in the forthcoming World Cup in South Africa, is arranged by RICS Consult Limited.

In her welcome address, Nana Adjoa Rex Danquah, General Manager of RICS Consult pointed out that the forthcoming Mundial on African soil offers Ghana and for that matter Africans an opportunity of critical analysis of what Africans stand to gain from the South Africa 2010.

According to Nana Adjoa, the seminar is intended to upgrade stakeholders' know how and capacity building which will run in an MBA format- deliberating on subjects like club structures, player management and transfers, administration of clubs, etc.

She revealed that this year's event on the theme -“South Africa 2010 World Cup, Challenges, Opportunities and Legacies for Africa,” will focus on three activities comprising performance theatre, Cyber Networking and connoisseur point.

She gave the assurance that next year's edition will take a paradigm shift and will be code named Sports Expo and not Football Expo, as it has been the case in the previous editions.

The chairperson for the high profile seminar, Naa Norkor Duah, Director of Research International and also CIMG Marketing woman of the year charged participants to esteem events management as well as upgrade themselves to handle issues that goes with event management effectively.

Also present to grace the occasion was the Omanhene of the Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kwabena Nketsia, commended RICS Consult for the theme and psyched up participants up to look beyond South Africa 2010 and the legacy that will be left after the tourney. He charged participants to stretch their mental horizon so that they are not overtaken by events saying, “Don't allow events to control you, but you should rather control events.”

The President of Global Media Alliance Mr. Edward Boateng made a presentation on the theme after which the participants broke into various groups.

The Executive Chairman of RICS Consult Limited Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah also led a panel discussion on the theme -“South Africa 2010 World Cup , challenges, opportunities and legacies for Africa.”
