NEW PLAYERS will be called into the local Black Stars to fortify the team before the 2011 CHAN tournament gets underway, Coach Herbert Addo has said.
Speaking to ace journalist Kwabena Yeboah minutes after Ghana eliminated Burkina Faso 1-0 to qualify for the tournament, Coach Addo said, “I am disappointed”.
Coach Addo noted that players in the premiership who would henceforth improve in their play would be given the chance to justify their inclusion into the team.
Though Ghana has qualified for its second successive CHAN tournament, he said he was not impressed with the play of the team on the day, notably in midfield and attack.
According to the Ghana Coach there is more work to be done on the team to keep it in shape before the CHAN tournament kick-starts in Sudan next year.
He said he devised the right tactics for the match but the players applied it badly on the field to his disappointment.
Ghana, he said, created all the decent chances in the game but the strikers let the team down woefully by squandering them.
Ghana finished second in the maiden CHAN tournament in Cote D'Ivoire in 2009.
Coach Addo said his least expectation is to lead Ghana to at least the finals of the next tournament but was quick to note his ultimate aim is the diadem.
