Substitute Laryea Kingston was shown a straight red card seven minutes after the break for a high challenge on an Aberdeen player during Saturday's Scottish Premier League match.
Kingston replaced Daniel Kucharski before the start of the second half and was sent off in the 52nd minute for a tackle on youngster Fraser Fyvie.
Hearts shrugged off their numerical disadvantage to beat Aberdeen 0-1 at the Pittodrie Stadium thanks to Eggert Jonsson's 64th minute stunning overhead kick.
Manager Jim Jefferies admitted his initial assessment on Kingston's dismissal was that the Ghana international had been hard done by.
"I think the sending off was a bit harsh," Jim said. "I'll make my own judgement once I see it on video.
"My first reaction was a yellow may be a bit harsh but I'll have to look at it again before I make a decision."
This is a set-back for Kingston who has been tasked to improve by his manager.
Kingston will head off to Sarajevo for Ghana's international friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina on 03 March.
