Stars Finish Year At 34Th Position

Ghana finished the year 34th in world football rankings, moving up a place from the 35th position as the latest was released yesterday.

Cameroun who are tops in Africa, retained their 11th position in the world just as Cote d’Ivoire also retained their second position in Africa and their 16th position in the world.

There were no significant changes in the rankings, conducted by football’s world governing body, FIFA, as Nigeria, third in Africa, finished the year at the 22nd position, the same as they placed in the November rankings.

African champions, Egypt are finished at the 24th position and are fourth in Africa while Algeria, who will be returning to World Cup action next year after several years of no show, finished 26th in the world.

Mali, who are sixth in the African standings, are 47th closely followed by Gabon (47th) and Burkina Faso (48th).

Spain retained the number one ranking for the second straight year, with Brazil, Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Germany, France, Argentina and England completing the top 10.
