
Inter midfielder Sulley Muntari has been awarded the 2009 'Paladino d'Oro' as African Footballer of the Year in ltaly and for his starring role in the documentary 'Football Fables' directed by Baffour Akoto.
Muntari was presented with the accolade at the Biondo Theatre in Palermo last night during the Great Gala of the Sport Film Festival.
Inter president Massimo Moratti telephoned in during the ceremony to thank the organisers for acknowledging the Ghanaian international who he believes was a worthy winner.
“I want to thank everyone for this prize you have awarded Muntari,” Moratti said.
“I think it is deserved because he is really a very nice lad.”
Muntari spent the day in the Sicilian capital and met with students at the University of Palermo yesterday morning.
