The Ghana Football Association is set to hand the stiffest punishment to Sulley Muntari for going AWOL before an international friendly against Angola.

The Inter Milan midfielder has still NOT apologised to coach Milovan Rajevac, his team-mates and Ghanaians, EIGHT DAYS after he intentionally dodged the game in Luanda.

Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien, Muntari and Rennes forward Asamoah Gyan failed to make the trip for last Wednesday's match.

But Essien and Gyan have written their grovelling apologies while Muntari has stubbornly refused to apologise and explain the reason for his absence.

Muntari's recalcitrance is a subject of concern for the coach Milovan Rajevac and the GFA as he is viewed as a disruptive influence on the team.

The Inter player's action has been a subject of concern for high ranking members of the Ghana FA, sources within the country's governing body have told Ghanasoccernet.

While this is the first time Essien and Gyan have been involved in a standoff with the GFA, it is the THIRD time Muntari has had a clash with the Ghanaian authorities this year!

While the GFA is expected to be lenient towards Essien and Gyan, Muntari will receive a heavy punishment to stem his stubbornness.

Muntari threatened to quit the Black Stars in April after his girlfriend had a faceoff with a policeman and miss June's World Cup qualifiers with Sudan and Mali under suspicious circumstances.

His actions left Rajevac seething with rage and his latest unruliness has heightened concern over his actions.

Muntari was sacked from Ghana 2004 Athens Olympic Games team for breaking camping rules and indiscipline.

He subsequently quit the national team before rescinding his decision.
