Ghana's first-choice goalkeeper Richard Kingson could be handed his first game for Wigan this season in Saturday's Premier League game against Burnley.

The club's regular shot-stopper Chris Kirkland is still a major doubt for the Lancashire derby after dislocating a finger.

Kirkland is now rated as 50-50 for the game at Turf Moor as he has yet to participate in any goalkeeper-specific training this week.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has yet to make a decision on Kirkland, but has he Ghana international and Mike Pollitt on standby.

"Mike has already played in the league and cup this season, whilst Richard has had a stop-start season with his ankle injury," added Martinez.

"But Richard has played with Ghana consistently at international level, so both are ready.

"It's just a matter of going into detail, on what we need and where they are with their form.

"So I will look at that a bit further down the line, but both are desperate to play."

Kingson has been in good form for the Black Stars helping them to qualify for their second successive World Cup.

Even though he has been in good form for Ghana he is yet to play his first game for Wigan this season.
