High profile resource persons yesterday threw more light on the technicalities and terminologies regarding the game of hockey at the Media Centre of the Ohene Djan Stadium.
The seminar, code named “Hockey Africa Cup for Nations seminar” was arranged by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) to equip journalists with the sport's jargons ahead of the hockey championship.
The resource persons, comprising Messrs Richmond Attipoe, international Hockey Federation Umpire, Richard Akpokavie, vice chairman, Ghana Hockey Association and Nii Quaye-Kumah, Hon Secretary General, Africa Hockey Federation took participants through various topics regarding the game.
After an opening remark by the chairman of the Ghana Hockey Association (GHA), Mr. Oko Nikoi-Dzani, Mr Akpokavie threw light on terminologies and pitch outlay, while Mr Attipoe took participants through interpretation of the rules in umpiring.
It was Mr. Quaye-Kumah, who touched on technical table and other duties by Tournament Director (TD), Technical Officers (TO), Medical Officer and Media representatives.
Participants are expected to receive certificates of participation for the four-hour media seminar which attracted media persons from all parts of the country.
Ghana will host the 9th edition of the AfHF Africa Cup for Nations beginning July 10 to 18, 2009, at the refurbished Theodosia Oko Hockey Stadium in Accra.
