The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Africa Hockey Federation (AfHF) Cup of Nations has line-up series of activities in the build up to the tourney.
The Chief Executive of the LOC, Magnus Rex Danquah in a statement copied to GNA Sports said the activities are intended to heighten public awareness ahead of the 10 to 18 July tournament.
“These include the formal launch of the 9th edition of the Hockey Cup of Nations tournament in Accra on Tuesday, May 26, 2009.”
Rex Danquah said the launching, which forms part of the LOC's overall plan to rekindle corporate enthusiasm and public interest in the tournament will be the platform to also showcase the new stadium under construction and other facilities for the 8-day tourney.
He expressed satisfaction with the extent of progress made so far by the Organising Committees, which met in a brainstorming exercise to focus attention on the essentials that will lead to the successful hosting of the championship.
The Chief Executive added that his outfit has succeeded in submitting an acceptable budget to the sector Ministry in respect of the tourney and therefore called for public support to make the tourney a success.
