Ghana striker Junior Agogo's move to Egyptian side Zamalek has exposed wide cracks within the leadership of the five-time African champions.

Presidential hopeful Al-Mandouh Al-Hosseini, who is facing the incumbent Mamdouh Abbas in upcoming elections, has written to the country's highest sports governing body to cancel the contract with Agogo.

The 28-year-old moved from English side Nottingham Forest to join the north African giants for US$1.1m.

In a letter to the Egyptian Higher Council for Sports (HCS) Al-Hosseini said the club's current president Abbas signed Agogo to boost his chances of winning the elections later this month.

The HCS had previously issued a statement that said that no deals should be completed without their approval in the transitional period that precedes Egyptian club elections.

Al-Hosseini contends that the signing of the Ghanaian striker is very expensive for the club becasue of the striker's salary demands.

Agogo will be unveiled by Zamalek later on Thursday after signing a three-year contract on Wednesday.

Zamalek's elections are set to be held on July 27th.
