Lions “roar” for fair officiating in President’s Cup

Kpando Heart of Lions has appealed for fair officiating in Tuesday's President's Cup match against un-crowned Premier League champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko scheduled for the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra.
Lions have lost twice to Kotoko this season but believe fair officiating will tilt the tie in their favour this time round.
Captain Jerry Akaminko who made the appeal at a pre-match press conference on Monday said but for bias officiating, Lions would have emerged victors in their last two meetings.
Kotoko beat Lions 3-2 and 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi and the Ohene Djan Stadium respectively during the Onetouch Premier League, but Akaminko, who started with the U-20 side of Kotoko, cited unfair officiating as a contributory factor to the losses.
“We are appealing to the organizers for fair officiating and with that we can beat Kotoko on Tuesday.”
The rugged defender added that his outfit is fully prepared for the tie as they have set their sights on the ultimate.
Lions' is yet to win any major silverware since joining the elite division six years ago and Akaminko believes history is in the making for them following their output this season.
The current top scorer on the local scene, Eric Bekoe of Kotoko on his part called off the bluff of Lions and assured the teaming fans of Asante Kotoko that they will add the President's Cup to their haul of trophies this season.
Since its inception four years ago, Kotoko has been crowned winners twice of the annual event and are seeking a hat-trick of the wins.
Organizers of the event, Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) at the ceremony presented cheques for GH 10,000 cedis each to the two teams.
