Maximum Security For Stars-Gabon Match

The National Sports Council (NSC) has assured football fans of maximum security during Sunday’s 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Ghana’s Black Stars and the Azingo National of Gabon scheduled for the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.

According to the Council, security cameras have been installed at the stadium to track down persons whose conduct is likely to mar the game.

Mr Charles James Aryeh, Chief Administrative Officer of NSC in a statement said his outfit has beefed up security and will arrest all persons who will attempt to disrupt the game.

He also warned that no organised supporters group will be allowed free entry into the stadium and advised any such groups to discuss their programmes with the Council at least 48 hours to the game.

The Chief Administrative Officer emphasized that access to the Presidential and VVIP Lounge will strictly be by invitation, adding that beneficiaries of complimentary cards must endeavour to collect such cards and present it at the entry points for easy access to the respective areas.

Mr Aryeh disclosed that special car passes have also been issued for parking of vehicles at the parking lots in the stadium during the crucial Group Five clash.

'Car Park A is within the Sports Hall and main block, Car Park B is between the former Post Office and the Sports Hall with Car Park C being the former swimming pool area.'

On tickets for the match, Mr Aryeh said tickets have also been printed in the colours of the various areas/zones of Grey for the VIP (Lower and Upper), Orange and Blue for the areas behind the two goal posts while the Centre Line area (formerly Osu Stand) has a Green colour.

The NSC boss noted that the Council has also observed with concern that during high profile matches, all shades of persons surface at the stadium portraying themselves as representatives of agencies sponsoring the said event.

He said notice has therefore been served to the general public that only persons authorized by the National Sports Council would be allowed to operate inside the stadium premises during such events.

He appealed to fans to adhere to the directives to ensure a successful match.

The Stars lost 0-2 to their Gabonese counterparts in the first leg in Libreville last week.
