Sikaprix’s April 25 Bill At James Town - Baba Musah Dares Ishmael Tetteh

Two national titles, two West African belts and 13 non-title contests being staged by Sikaprix Ashtown Boxing Promotion has revived tension, a la boxing style, within the vicinity of Bukom and British Accra, James Town.

Ishmael Tetteh's claim to the throne of West African super welterweights has been challenged by the bravery of Baba Musah, a ward of Fit Square Gym, in the main bout of the Friday, April 25 packed programme at the Sacred Heart Vocational School at James Town.

Tetteh who won the title in Accra late last year has, however, warned of an emerging ring disaster if his opponent decides to go the full hog with him.

Known more for his hand speed, jabbing skills and counter-punching qualities, champion Tetteh has accummulated a record of 15-3 without necessarily relying on the power of his punch.

His three losses indicate his vulnerability, but maintains that he has come of age since clinching the West Africa title.

If there is any proof of this, Musah (8-5) will provide the answer when he mounts the ring for his biggest challenge yet, seeking to overthrow an opponent with a far richer ring experience than he can boast.

Despite the juicy bill which also has Ahmed Akrong and Adjei Sowah fighting for the national middleweight title, Galley Cudjeo and Cobbina Johnson fighting for the national bantamweight title, and Dan Tetteh and Emmanuel Aryeetey fighting for the West Africa super featherweight title, none has set the boxing community of Accra in argument than the Tetteh versus Musah clash.

And if happenings around Bukom and James Town matter, then a night of thrills and excitement is assured.

Indeed, the usual pre-fight arguments have travelled beyond mere talks into street confrontations, with the effect of filling their respective gyms with curious fans. Yet not one of the main combatants has created the impression of joining the street fray.

Also appearing on the bill are: Maxwell Awuku versus Ardey Dauda in a super featherweight contest, Osumanu Yahya Akaba versus Peter Mensah in a super featherweight contest, Lartei Lartey versus Mohammed Alolega in a super lightweight contest and Patrick Allotey versus Isaac Selom in a welterweight contest.

The rest are: Michael Barnor versus J.J. Apraku in a bantamweight contest, Ayi Bruce versus Kwame Archer in a super lightweight contest, Akabu Amidu versus Imorano Bozo in a super featherweight contest and Flash Ibole Isaka versus Babs Kennedy in a middleweight contest.
