The Accra International Conference Centre in Accra will on December 29 explode when top musicians stage the "United for Peace Concert” to raise funds for the nation's sports development.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Thursday, Nana Acheampong (Dada Lumba), who will perform along side with other top artistes like Charles Kwadjo Fosu, stressed the need for Ghanaians to help develop and promote sports.
“Arts, music and sports are bedfellows and that's why we quickly accepted the challenge to perform to raise funds for Ghana's contingent to the next Olympic Games in China”, he said, adding that there would also be live show performances in Europe to raise funds for the Ghana Olympic Committee”.
Frank Appiah, Vice President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, announced that the GOC would need $3 million for the Beijing Games. “We're, therefore, appealing to corporate bodies and philanthropists to help send our contingent to the Olympics”.
The concert is being organised by Ghana Base Management with its principals in the United Kingdom.
Other artistes lined up for the shows are Nana Qaume, Mzbel, Castro, Owuraku Micky, and Daasebre Gyamena.
