MANAGEMENT OF Kumasi Asante Kotoko has reacted to DAILY GUIDE SPORTS publication that the club will face court action if it fails to settle the ¢33 million it allegedly owes Sports Exchange Ghana Limited, a sports wear company.
Speaking to this reporter in Accra, Mr Kwame Baah-Nuarko, the Communications Director of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, said the club, like any other football club was indebted to some organizations and that his outfit was surprised that there was hue and cry over ¢33 million which described as peanut, since the club had deals worth billions.
“To be frank we were not officially informed in writing about the amount or what was happening. I particularly only read the publication in the newspaper early this month,” he admitted.
According to Baah-Nuarko the transaction with the sports wear company did not happen during the tenure of the current management, stressing that Sports Exchange Ghana Limited would have done a better job if it had forwarded invoices regarding the transaction to the new Kotoko management.
He blamed the sports wear company for going to the media to highlight the afore-mentioned sum of money which he believed the club would have settled long ago.
It would be recalled that Mr. Albert Adade, former player of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Managing Director of Sports Exchange Ghana Limited, early this month told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS that Kotoko collected some sports equipment worth ¢33 million during last season's Ghana Football Association (GFA) Congress and since then the club had failed to pay the amount.
