Ayew salutes Egypt fans
Captain of Ghana's victorious U20 World Cup team, Andre Dede Ayew, has hailed the Egyptian public for their unflinching support that helped them to win the world title on Friday.
Ayew told Ghanasoccernet his wish list is to see the Egyptian national team qualify for the 2010 World Cup finals.
Fans of the Pharaohs gave the Black Satellites massive support throughout the tournament to help Ghana win Africa's first U20 World Cup title.
Egypt are struggling in their bid to qualify for the 2010 World Cup and Ayew says for their massive support for the Satellites, he is keen on Egypt to qualify for the next year's World Cup in South Africa.
"The Egyptian people are nice and I just don't know how much to thank them for their gesture and Insha Allah they will qualify for the World Cup," the delighted Ayew said.
"They supported us right from Ismailia through to Suez and the lovely Cairo fans. Myself and team mates do appreciate it every much.
"The fans showed us love and we can only pray the Pharaohs qualify for the World Cup next year," he added.
The son of the football legend Abedi Pele is popular in Egypt due to his elder brother Rahim Ayew's exploits at Zamalek.
