Brakwa Methodist School undertake clean up
Brakwa (C/R), July 4, GNA-Teachers and pupils of Brakwa Methodist

basic and Junior High Schools have undertaken a five-hour clean-up exercise at

the town as part of activities marking the Methodist Education week celebration

in the area.
The children, led by their teachers weeded overgrown areas, distilled choked

gutters and swept the Brakwa Town Council Office, the market place, Brakwa

Rural Bank, Brakwa Health Centre and the principal streets of the town.

The programme was under the theme; “Ensuring cleanliness in the

community”.
In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Mr Frank Kojo Boakye Assuman,

one of the teachers, said the programme was to demonstrate to the public the

need to undertake clean-up exercises from time to time in the town.

Mr Assuman stressed the need for constant clean up in the area to ensure

environmental cleanliness to avoid outbreak of diseases.

The Brakwa area Environmental Health Officer, Madam Victoria Brown

commended the teachers and the students for organizing the clean-up and hoped

it would not be a nine-day wonder.
She advised against the littering of the street, defecating at refuse dumps and

nearby bushes.
Other activities for the celebration were symposium, spelling-be, games, and

discussions on environmental Protection.
