The ministry of foreign Affairs will soon begin to issue electronic passports and visa to replace the manual system currently in operation, the sector Minister Akwasi  Osei  Adjei  has said.

The move is to reduce paperwork and fraudulent deals associated with the issuance of those documents.

Mr   Adjei  announced this at the handing over ceremony of the E-Consul and E- Administration project by the Korean government to the Ministry of foreign Affairs in Accra yesterday.

The E-consul and E-government is aimed at computerising and networking the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to enhance effective communication.

Currently under the E- Consul and E-government project, the data centre of the Ministry of foreign Affairs has been renovated and new hardware and network facilities installed.

Mr  Adjei  said ,in the new emerging economic order ,Information Communication Technology (ICT) played fundamental roles in wealth creation and national development.
