Dear Dr. Opoku: May God Bless you for your dedication to educate people understand the sorrow that we in Ethiopia live day by day knowing that the western world is not eager to return what belongs to us and to the people of Africa. If Africans come together and demand it, I belive they will have NO choise but to return what is ours. Africa's history, Africas treasure belong to Africans.

Dear Eyob,I fully agree with your and Dr. Opoku's ideas. It is not only the artfacts but we, ourselves should return where we belong and serve our people. I commend that the stolen objects stay where they are safe until we have a stable and democratic Ethiopia-a stable and democratic Africa where neighbours live in peace and friendship. To give you just a very small example: Assume the two lunatics of Ethiopia and Eritrea go to war and a bomb is dropped at the site of the obelisk? Do you think we will erect it back from ashes? Do not worry, when the conditions allow we will get all our stolen treasures returned home !!!

Dear Bitew,Even though I respect your views, please stop being negative. The Axum treasure is also an Eritrean Treasure.
We should not waste a single minute for claiming to the return of our treasures regardless of the stability of our country. Who says Western countries will remain stable or for how long?
Personally, I rather see it rotten in my own country than in a foreign country. Remeber, the horn has been fighting for centuries and yet they still kept their treasures alive.

Dear Sir,I believe that "In war all is fair", therefore i would have to say that these Treasures were captured and not stolen. Each and every country has waged war. All have won and lost at some point. All have plundered and have been plundered. Thus i would have to respectively say that we should stop living in the past and work on building a better future.

Dear Philo:Your comment is tangential. Who is talking about "living in the past"? What is fair about war? What difference it makes whether a Treasure is captured or stolen? Don't you know that one of the Ten Commandments is NOT to take things that don't belong to you? That is what the army of Napier did- stole (among other things)Ethiopian old books that Emperor Tewodros collected for a new libray he was planning to open! They STOLE it and kept it in their museium.
Philo: you missed the purpose of Dr. Opoku's article. It is neither about "livining in the past" nor "better future." Even if it was, how can you "work on a better future" without knowing and understanding your past?
When Africans talk about their pride past, that they are the cradle of mankind and civilization, that they were the builders of the Great Sphinx in lower Egypt,or the Obelisk in Axum, the churches of Laibela, the University in Timbektu,-they were told "stop livining in the past!"
So dear Philo, if you are an African and you belive in what you wrote, shame on you. If you are trying to assimilate with the Texans, good luck.
