The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana has introduced a cardless ATM withdrawal service that allows a third party to withdraw cash without a card.
The new innovation in the banking sector was part of three ATM Value Added Services which the bank outdoored.
Apart from the cardless withdrawals, the value added services of the new ATM allow customers of the bank to pay their bills (utility), DSTV subscription fees and also purchase mobile recharge credit on their phone or for third parties.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Mr Oliver Alawuba, said the addition of the value added ATM services is a continuation of the bank’s “trail blazing initiatives in the Ghanaian banking industry.”
“These newly added services, which are powered on the e-Transact platform, is aimed at creating branchless banking. We see branchless banking as a future of banking in Ghana. This means that we must empower customers by providing them with several options to access financial services,” he added.
Beyond the launch, UBA has also commenced operation of a branchless banking model at the Accra Mall christened the ‘Accra Mall E- Village,’ which is a purely cashless service outlet that provides numerous services such as bill payments and liquidation of funds transfer on cards.
The Chief Operating Officer of E-tranzact Ghana, Mr George Babafemi, commended UBA for the innovation and advised the general public to fully take advantage of the new service.
