The New Patriotic Party's Kwabena Sarpong believes ex-President Rawlings must apologise to Ghanaians for the acute corruption and crass incompetence they were experiencing under President J.E.A. Mills whom Mr Rawlings helped make a president.

He insists the former president's public expression of frustration at the direction President Mills is steering the country was a clear indication that Mr Rawlings was regretting terribly for helping to put Mills in office as president.

'I don't know what is preventing him from doing what I am going to say; I believe Rawlings wants to tell Ghanaians, 'Ghana, I am extremely sorry, please forgive me for giving you JEA Mills'; that is what Rawlings wants to say,' he said on MultiTV's political talk show, Minority Caucus.

Mr Kwabena Sarpong, a member of the NPP communications team, contended the claims by government spokespersons that Mr Rawlings' frustrations have to do with the failure of the Mills administration to jail corrupt NPP government appointees were erroneous.

He said it was rather the corruption in government that was making the former president very mad.

Mr Sarpong said having relentlessly accused the erstwhile NPP government of corruption, Mr Rawlings was hoping the Mills government would run a cleaner government, at least by Mr Rawlings' standards.

But regrettably, the Mills administration, he claimed, failed former President Rawlings spectacularly and frustratingly.

He is bating his breath in expectation of the former president apologizing to Ghanaians.

Mr Sarpong claimed the corruption in the government was so much it was unimaginable.

Bro K | 5/24/2012 11:27:00 PM
Kwame , if you cannot put politics aside and evaluate this Mills admn and all the open curruption going on, then I think you've received your share. Woyome = $21 mil ; CP =$30 mil etc etc .

Kwame , that the previous govt also did it is not a valid excuse.
Where will it end ?. Kwame how can an admn go to Korea to solicit buildinds for $10 billion , BUILDINGS ?
With proper vision can't $10 bil build a rail road all the way to Bolgatanga and back ? Or Kwame can't $10 bil build a cannal from Kpong to anywhere inland to preserve all the fresh water lost into the sea ?
Kwame you are as visionless and useless as the crew at the castle . Change Kwame Change open your eyes or we are doomed to be 3rd World country for good .
Rawlings Wants Power
SPIDER IN HIS WEB | 5/25/2012 3:36:00 AM
MP Kwabena Sarpong is totally wrong in his assessment of Rawlings's feelings over the situation in government. Rawlings is never frustrated by the corruption per se. He himself was engaged in corruption as president. I am talking about Nsawam Canneries and Cocoa Processing factory that went to his family after divestiture, just to mention a couple of instances. He is also conspicuously quiet over the Woyome scandal because he is alleged to have received half a million euros from Woyome. His frustration derives from the fact that he cannot have his own way in dealing with the situation. After all, he started crowing right after Mills's inauguration in January 2009 for not 'obeying his orders' to arrest certain Ministers in the previous government. There was no corruption then. Even though he is no longer the president, Rawlings wants to exercise the powers of the president and relegate the sitting president to the role of a prime minister. Mills's cardinals sin is resisting Rawlings's impulse to grab power.
Mr Rawlings, Apologise now!
