BECE takes-off smoothly in Ashanti

Kumasi, April 16, GNA – The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) got off to a smooth start in the Ashanti Region on Monday with no reported cases of hitches.

All the materials were in place and delivered on time.

A total of 77,222 candidates made up of 41,065 males, and 36,157 females, are writing the examination in 298 centres in the region.

Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, the Regional Minister, and Mr Joseph K. Onyinah, the Regional Education Director, toured some of the centres in the Kumasi Metropolis.

At the T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS Centre, 309 candidates out of the 310 registered were present.

Mr Abu Abudu, the Supervisor, said all had so far gone smoothly. The candidates and invigilators had conducted themselves well.

Out of the 200 registered candidates at the Kumasi Anglican SHS, 199 were on hand to write the papers.

Dr Agyemang-Mensah expressed satisfaction with what he saw and wished the candidates the best of luck.
