THE OUT-going Upper East Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Alhaji Mahama Hamidu, and the incoming Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ASP) Bright Oduro, have unanimously called for regular social events between the police and media practitioners in the region.

The two police bosses, who made the call on Republic Day after a friendly football match between their men and “Media Eleven”, observed that such social events could further strengthen the already existing cordial relationship between the police and the media in the region.

DCOP Hamidu and ACP Oduro expressed their satisfaction about the splendid performance and fair play exhibited by the two sides, including the high spirit in the game.

They both called for a return match, but were quick to add that their men would again win the next encounter.

It was the media which invited the police, but lost by a lone goal. Ernest Asare, alias CK Akonnor, of the police side was the goal scorer. The Republic Day football match was the third friendly encounter between the police and Media Eleven, which the police have won two and drawn one against Media Eleven.

The match was played to celebrate Ghana's Republic Day. Deputy Superintendent of Police Innocent Avevor, Bolgatanga Municipal Police Commander, called for the inclusion of females in subsequent games.
