Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP flag bearer, has reiterated the party's commitment to play within the confines of the game to ensure that peace prevails in the country before, during and after the elections.
He advised NPP supporters and activists not to allow themselves to be used to foment trouble by indulging in unhealthy political debates and arguments with opponents, as such acts had the potential to create violence and tension.
"We don't want bloodshed in this country, you must strive to conduct yourselves properly ahead of the elections in order to maintain the peace and unity in the country, because we are one people with a common destiny," the flag bearer stressed.
Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing a rally at Drobo, the capital of the Jaman South District in the Brong-Ahafo Region, as part of his seven-day tour of the region.
He dismissed claims by some political opponents that the NPP was planning to rig the December election.
"It is now very clear that these people have come to terms with the possibility of losing the elections and would therefore resort to baseless allegations because they have nothing to tell the good people of Ghana,” he added.
The flag bearer appealed to the people of Drobo to vote massively for the party so that it could continue with the good policies initiated under President Kufuor, and gave the assurance that the area would enjoy its fair share of the national cake when he was elected as president.
He promised to put a system of education in place that would ensure that both the rich and poor had equal access to education, and that he would remove all restrictions in the school feeding programme to cover all schools.
Nana Akufo-Addo stated that it was his dream to eliminate illiteracy in the country in the next decade, hence the promise to extend free education to senior high schools.
Earlier, Mr Alan Kyerematen, Madam Grace Omaboe and Madam Anna Nyamekye and other party stalwarts took turns to address the rally.
The flag bearer and his entourage were given a rousing welcome with the 'Kangaroo dance' by the people in the towns he visited.
The towns included Gonasua, Japeikrom, Dwenem, Jejemireja, Amasu and Nkrankwanta.
