NEW: Ghana Tourist Villas offers an unforgettable holiday and business experience in Accra.
The Police Night Patrol Team in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, in the early hours of Sunday, arrested four persons in a taxicab who were in possession of quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Briefing this reporter on the arrest, Inspector Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Western Regional Police Command said on Sunday July 27, at about 3:30am the patrol team intercepted the taxicab with registration number GT1347S around Butumaegyebu near Sekondi.

She said the taxicab which was from Essaman heading towards Nkotompo near Sekondi was being driven by one Anthony Baafo, with three others - Kobina Sanny, John Koomson and Kobina Gyan - on board.

According to her, when the police stopped the taxi and saw the calibre of people on board, they became suspicious and decided to search the vehicle.

During the search the police found 34 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp concealed under the front seat, and Sanny who was sitting on that seat claimed ownership of the stuff.

He indicated that the one who supplied him with the 'wee' was one Nana Banyin alias “Cobra”, who stayed at Anafo, a suburb of Sekondi. He subsequently took the police to the house of the said Nana Banyin and he was also arrested.

Inspector Adiku added that when the police conducted a search in Cobra's room thirty-eight-and-a-half parcels of dried leaves suspected to be 'wee' were found.

The police PRO said the driver of the taxicab was released on bail, as after interrogation it was realized that he knew nothing about the dried leaves.

The four suspects are currently in police custody pending further investigations.
